Costa Rica was a whirlwind from start to finish. Through our research we understood it to be the favourite destination of some, while others leaned more towards the rest of Central America thanks to a raw and more untamed vibe. Either way everyone agrees that we'd encounter animals galore, extreme adventure, and for our $$ to not go very far; right on all fronts!

Our time in this small yet diverse country was unfortunately / fortunately (TBD) punctuated by two major incidents. 1 - Hurricane Matthew which blew through only days before we arrived, and 2 - our rental of a van which lasted all of 5 days before the timing belt ripped off = dead vehicle!

Needless to say we still made the most of our time there with activities ranging from backroad driving in search of deserted waterfalls to cloud forest trail runs, or ziplining like Superman to sloth watching in National Parks.
