Volcano boarding #likeaboss
Thanks to a crazy Aussie, volcano boarding was born in Leon, Nicaragua and is a must do if you're in town.
Cerro Negro is only a baby volcano standing at 750m but it packs a punch.
It's all pretty simple: don a seriously sexy orange jumpsuit, meth-lab goggles, orange bandana to keep the rocks from your face and a wooden board to slide upon - and you're set.
It's a quick 40min hike to the top and then whammy, your 600m natural slide awaits. For the competitive speed demons, you'll get your speed clocked to benchmark yourself against all who have tried this crazy sport.
DO IT:
Bigfoot Hostel offers tours for US$35 departing their hostel at 8.30am and includes a free t-shirt (yeap!). You take a chicken bus to the volcano, hike, board down, crack a free beer, naw on a free cookie - and when you get back to the hostel, they have an ice cold mojito waiting for you. Perfection.
