Hike Tierra del Fuego National Park
Wild. Rugged. Remote. It is here that nature touches your heart. There are five walks to choose from - we need more days here as each one is so different.
We set off on the 8km Costera Trail that follows quiet Lapataia Bay within the Beagle Channel and it doesn't disappoint. The water is transparent with rocky beaches, and you wind through the winter's bark forest featuring a trail covered with nature's confetti (leaves).
The trail ends conveniently at a little cafe where you can try the king crab empanadas (drool!) and the local Beagle beer. It over looks the water and is surrounded by mountains. The perfect spot to put your feet up.
I would have loved to do the Cerrro Guanaco hike but that would have added another 8 hours. I hear it's fabulous if you have the time.
8km hike. 12km out of Ushuaia. Return bus costs a disgusting AR$400 plus a AR$210 National Park entrance fee.
TIP: take your passport with you. There is a tiny jetty at the start of the walk where they'll stamp your passport with a Fin del Mundo stamp. Yeap, we made it.
